New Britain Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

EAST HARTFORD — A New Britain man was killed late Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle on the westbound I-384 connector to I-84.

State police and East Hartford firefighters were called to the crash at 11:19 p.m.

State police said Dwayne Mott, 48, of Atlantic Street, went off the right side of the road and struck a guard rail. He was thrown from the motorcycle and fatally injured, police said.

Mott was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, where he died.

State police at the Hartford barracks are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to call Trooper John Blalock at Troop H at 860-534-1070, ext. 6001.


Motorcyclist Injured In Vernon Crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on Regan Road early Monday.

A car was driving east on Regan Road around 6:36 a.m. and turned left into the driveway of an apartment complex at 201 Regan Road, according to a release from Vernon Police.

The motorcycle was traveling west on Regan Road. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Timothy Dyment, 31, of 153 Regan Road, tried to stop as the car turned in front of him, but the vehicles collided, the release states.

Dyment was brought to Rockville Hospital and transferred to Hartford Hospital for treatment of “undisclosed serious injuries,” the release states.

The driver of the car, Angel Ortiz, 28, of 274 Bellevue St., Hartford, was brought to Rockville Hospital for evaluation.

Lawsuit Filed in Hartford Drunk Driving Case

The Hartford, Connecticut trial law firm of Kenny, O’Keefe & Usseglio, P.C., has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a young woman who was injured in an automobile crash by a drunk driver.  The crash occurred in Hartford, Connecticut.  The lawsuit was filed in Hartford Superior Court and seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

Fatal Bus Vs. Pedestrian Accident In Downtown Hartford

HARTFORD—

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a bus in downtown Hartford late Thursday morning.

The accident happened about 11:20 a.m. in the area of Gold and Lewis streets. Police have blocked off roads in the area.


Hartford School Bus Involved In Crash; 14 Students On Board

HARTFORD—

— A school bus and a car collided near the intersection of Wethersfield Avenue and Wyllys Street on Wednesday afternoon, and some of the students on board were receiving medical attention.

There were about 14 students from the Achievement First Academy on board, said Hartford schools spokesman David Medina. They ranged from kindergarteners to eighth-graders.

One child told officials that they were not feeling well. The child is being evaluated, Medina said.


West Hartford Woman Dies After Crash

WEST HARTFORD—
A local woman involved in a car accident earlier this month has died, police said.
Helen Mehlman, 93, of 1 Hamilton Heights, was involved in the crash at Fern Street and Fernwood Road on March 9.
The accident is still under investigation. It is the first fatal crash on a West Hartford road since October 2009, police said.
